Economist World in Figures App Reviews

Good app would like to see more graphing options and features. Helps when quick preparation for a discussion is needed.

I bought this app a couple of years ago. Before todays upgrade (March 2015), I had the 2013 edition, including full country profiles, like whats in the printed book. After todays upgrade, I only have access to some summary information. The full country profiles have disappeared! Now they want a $6.99 annual subscription fee to get the full content. (Even though I already pay the hefty full subscription fee for the magazine!) This is like sneaking into somebodys house and taking away one of their books, then demanding a ransom to replace it! Sure, the thief will replace it with a newer edition with more up-to-date information and nicer typesetting, but thats not the point. If the victim does not wish to pay the ransom, then he doesnt have his book at all anymore! If you want to launch a new app with a subscription service, then fine, do that. Stop updating the old one and launch an entirely new one, but leave the old one alone! (Luckily after writing this review I figured out how to downgrade to version 2 using a backup copy, but now I have to be careful not to update by accident.)

I noted that the updating process for that app is not in concordance with the "Pocket World in Figure 2016" which I just received on sept 4th 2015 by regular mail. If I m paying a special yearly fee I suppose that I should have the most accurate informations and the most recent infos available on those two supports(medias). Sorry but Im disappointed. Iwill reconsider my next year renewal fee for that app. ($6.99)

Factquest has got to be the worst trivia game ever. Astonishingly obscure questions like "Mali consumed three times less sugar five years ago than southern Uganda will next year." Come on Economist, pull up yer socks.

Very useful

Very disappointed already asked to correct data related to my country they never did. Never acknowledge my request. I cancelled my renewal. Also big increase in price compared to last year.

However, the charts are often hardly readable. They need to be able to be enlarged.

The best thing I have on my iPhone, and iPad! Some statistics are not up-to-date, but still very, very, very good!

It has Hundreds of interesting facts.

Very complete app in term of data and accesibilty (eg. You can share info by @); user friendly and the trivia (random info which pop up) is entertainment. Eventually better than OCSE app.

Ive subscribed to the economist for years, I love having all of these random facts and statistics at my finger tips. The fact quest is also a ton of fun. One minor suggest to make the app perfect, show me the right answer in fact quest if Im wrong. I may not know whos got the fastest agriculture growth sector between Guatemala, Nicuargua, and El Salvador, but Id like to once I get it wrong.

Hi all, i have a question about factquest. Can i take a look or save the quiz with correct answer after each quiz. If it is possible i would like buy it 5.99 per a year

Pretty cool app but was very disappointed on the question of Mexico currency being the Mexican Dollar!!? I am mexican and the currency is the Mexican PESO!!!

It would be really helpful if the FactQuest game showed the correct answer, and even better, the correct statistics when you get an answer wrong. I enjoy the game as a convenient way of learning (with morning coffee, before bed, in spare minutes before class, etc.) and this would greatly increase its educational value. (Also, some of the questions need proofreading.) Thanks!

Despite being registered with the Economist as a subscriber, this app requires an additional registration. Its unseemly, unnecessary, and frustrating to ask such a thing for no apparent reason. I refuse.
